We met with members of farmers cooperative of Chilean large mussel, Choros Maltones, and administration office of Carahue city to introduce our project and exchange opinions about sustainable fisheries of that region.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-640\" src=\"https:\/\/mge.hiroshima-u.ac.jp\/SATREPS_MACH\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/201812_visit_Nehuentue-300x183.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"183\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mge.hiroshima-u.ac.jp\/SATREPS_MACH\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/201812_visit_Nehuentue-300x183.png 300w, https:\/\/mge.hiroshima-u.ac.jp\/SATREPS_MACH\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/201812_visit_Nehuentue-768x468.png 768w, https:\/\/mge.hiroshima-u.ac.jp\/SATREPS_MACH\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/201812_visit_Nehuentue-1024x624.png 1024w, https:\/\/mge.hiroshima-u.ac.jp\/SATREPS_MACH\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/201812_visit_Nehuentue.png 1045w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0They explained the history of mussel farming of the region, how they farm mussels, and surrounding problems. They also explained Nehuentue cooperative has produced larger Choros Maltones in Chile, with the amount of farming reaching 400 tons per year.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Professor Gojobori explained that our project is intended to develop a forecast system of harmful algal bloom, and hence will contribute greatly to peoples of mussel farming. Professor Imai introduced the system of oyster farming in Japan and measures against harmful algal blooms. He also suggested effective usage of water surfaces with consideration of Nehuentue geography.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We are willing to disseminate issues related to our project to local fisheries and fishing people.
