On January 2022, we held the 3rd summer course of genomic informatics entitled “International Course on Microbial and Algal Metabarcoding Analysis 2022” at University of La Frontera (UFRO) as a training course for experimental biological students and researchers. Course contents covered topics of microbiome informatics ranging from basic to practical issues.

This year, this online course grew up to be the international course: students and researchers from 4 Latin American countries participated in, from 9 universities and institutes in total.

Professor Ávila (UFRO), Dr. Nagai (Japan Fisheries Research and Education Agency), Dr. Kawai (Kyoto University), and Valenzuela (UFRO) were in charge of the program. Dr. Nagai introduced his program which has been developed in this MACH project. He gave both a demonstration explanation of how to use the program using the version installed on the “Soroban” server and hands-on training of the participants.
