On May 13, 2019, Dr. Nagai and Dr. Yarimizu visited Professor Carlos Riquelmé at the University of Antofagasta. University of Antofagasta is one of the four core institutes of SATREPS-MACH project and Professor Riquelmé is the Research Associate Director of the project. As a part of the special lecture of the Professor Riquelmé’s class, Dr. Nagai gave a lecture for the students. The lecture included the overview of SATREPS-MACH project, introduction of salmon culture in Japan, the history of salmon aquaculture business in Chile, and the situation of Harmful Algae Blooms in Chile. Dr. Nagai explained these topics connecting to our daily lives so that students would familiarize the lecture contents easily. Dr. Nagai also introduced the Harmful Algal Bloom research data he collected in Japan. During the question-and-answer session after the lecture, the students asked a number of research questions. It was a good opportunity for the students at University of Antofagasta to learn the SATREPS-MACH project, and all of us had a valuable time to get to know each other.
