On May 8, 2019, Dr. Maruyama, Dr. Nagai, and Dr. Fujiyoshi visited IFOP-CREAN to hold a SATREPS-MACH seminar for CREAN employees. The purpose of the seminar was to introduce the SATREPS-MACH project and networking between SATREPS-MACH members of Japan and the employees of CREAN. Many IFOP employees participated in this seminar. The lecture was organized in three parts: First, Professor Maruyama gave the overview of SATREPS-MACH project followed by IFOP’s lab assistant Jonathan Vilugrón for explaining the actual activities being carried out in Chile for the project, and finally Professor Nagai presented Dinophysis and its toxins associated with harmful algae blooms. The seminar was started with an award and recognition for IFOP research crew members who are participating in the sampling for this project. A quiz game was given at the end of the seminar for CREAN employees to get to know the Japanese members better. Dr. Yarimizu led the seminar in Spanish which made atmosphere of the meeting even warmer and homier. Overall, the seminar was educational to the participants, and both the Japanese team members and IFOP employees had a valuable time to build friendship.
