Report the progress of the project to SUBEPSCA and SERNAPESCA

 On November 26, 2018, Dr. Fumito Maruyama, Director of MACH Project and Mr. Ryozo Hanya, Chief Representative of JICA Chile, explained a progress of MACH project to Mr. Eduardo Riquelme, undersecretary of SUBPESCA (*) and Ms. Alicia Gallardo, director of SERNAPESCA (*), and have discussed on effective implementation of the project.

 During the meeting, Dr. Maruyama gave them various MACH project goods and explained the importance of outreach activities to the public.  In addition, Dr. Maruyama also emphasized the importance of involving local communities and fishermen to the project, as the goal of the project is to develop harmful algae bloom forecast model through platform of collaboration between industry, government and academia.

During the meeting, SUBPESCA and SERNAPESCA commented to strengthen the relationship with the project and intend to make specific dissemination of research results to the general public.

In addition to undersecretary of SUBPESCA and director of SERNAPESCA, Mr. Juan  Zabala and Mr. Eugenio Zamorano (SUBPESCA), Ms. Ruth Alarcón  and Ms. Marcela Lara (SERNAPESCA) were present at the meeting.
