On September 5th 2018 in Santiago, Chile, a Kickoff ceremony of the project was held with participation of researchers from both Chile and Japan.
Besides all the integrated members of the project, different universities, government agencies and aquaculture and fishery industries have attended this ceremony, reaching 70 in total number.
The official logo of the project was presented during the steering meeting the day before the ceremony. This logo was designed with a concept of “Holobiome” (holo=whole, biome=ecosystem). The logo covers 11 kinds of living organisms including, algae, as well as sea snails, shells, shrimp, chilean corvina, tuna, salmon etc… and humans (also part of the ecosystem). The official name of the project is “MACH”, which is acronym for “Monitoring of Algae in Chile (English)” and “Monitoreo de Algas en Chile (Spanish)”.
We are trying to strengthen the cooperation among academia, industries and government agencies to proceed the project. We would greatly appreciate all of you for your warm support from now on.
